 makhanlal chaturvedi  government girls post graduate college a prime women educational institution for women in east nimar district of madhya pradesh was established in 1963. institution has been named in the honour of padmashri pandit makhanlal chaturvedi a great poet and freedom fighter of india. the institution is affiliated to devi ahilya vishvavidyalaya, indore (m.p.) since 1966. it is recognized by ugc under 2f and 12 b in july 1966 at that time it was affiliated to dr. h.s. gour university, sagar (m.p.)

the college has a huge campus of approx 18 acres and has 19 undergraduate and 8 post graduate departments.

under self financial scheme we are running seven courses- pharmaceutical chemistry, clinical nutrition, b.a. with computer, b.sc. with computer, b.com. with computer.  from this session two more courses are started &ndash office management & secretarial pattern & m.com.

the college has a highly qualified 29 faculty members with 24 teachers having ph.d. and 2 teachers having m.phil. degree. temporary staff members are recruited every year as guest faculty as per state government norms according to the requirements of respective departments. the number of students admitted each year to various undergraduate, postgraduate courses is about 2050. the admission to the various courses is made strictly according to merit by following the state government rules.

this year semister examination system is being followed for iii year undergraduate and all postgraduate courses. the examination system is governed by rules and regulations of devi ahilya vishwavidyalaya, indore. from 2017-18 annual examination system in ug is implemented.

            in continuation of last year in which the fund sanctioned by rusa [rs.140 lakh[ was spent for the infrastructure development and renovation of old building  of the institute. this year the fund worth rs 60 lakh was utilized in purchase of lab equipments, sports equipments , hostel furniture and class room furniture . the computer centre is now well equipped with computer and furniture with the help of above grant.

the academic, cultural, literary, sports and other extracurricular activities help to promote over all personality development of students. a large number of students of this college have been selected in various sports and cultural activities on university and state level and national level. at the academic front 2 girls of the college were in university merit list. one  faculty member prof sushila gaikwad  [sociology] awarded ph. d. degree by davv.

the college has also a nss wing. college regularly participates in all the inter-collegiate (district) tournaments organized by davv, indore. many students are selected for university (divisional) and state level team every year.

the main financial resources of the institution are from state government plan and non-plan grants and from other non-government resources, which include amalgamated funds. ugc grants, rusa grant  for development and janbhagidari.

on the academic front, our results show that we continue to maintain high standards of excellence. our students have made us proud by ranking in the university merit list. our college magazine &ldquopragya&rdquo is recognized as a knowledge & information book by the intellectuals. it is a mirror of the creative art of our students. our aim is to transcend beyond the narrow confines of academic education and embrace the contemporary dimensions of education in totality. we are confident that our institution will set new benchmarks of performance and surpass them in the years ahead.

in the current year approx.. 1916 girls were enrolled in different courses. for the first year the online admission process was exercised. under medhavi girls [girls with 75 % and above in 12th ] scheme 175 girls were benefited. this year student union election was also carried out as per govt. rules and regulations. in this election 20 were elected unopposed, 7 girls were nominated and 2 girls were elected for class representative . college has adopted zero tolerance anti ragging policy .besides nss and ncc the red-cross committee is also active .virtual classes are also conducted regularly and students are benefitted by virtual classes. next year the naac visit is also proposed.
