maksi is renowned as a pilgrim place for jainis and situated at ab road. it is an industrial area having 52
factories.it has an ancient and most beautiful jain temple. it is a hindi speaking belt of malwa region but the
local dialect is malvi.
there is a jharneshwar mahadev mandir 4 kms at the east of maksi. it is easy to access by both train and bus
routes. as it is railway junction almost all the trains halt at maksi station .it is 45 km from ujjain the holly city
of mahakal temple and the mokshdayinin kshipra.
the college was started in sept.1983 and was conducted in jain dharamshala behind railway station. it did not
have its own building.
in the year 2006 the hon&rsquoble chief minister shri shivraj sing chouhan declared and sanctioned the money and
allotted the land at jhonkar road, maksi. now the college is about 4 km from bus stand and 2 km from railway
station .its building is constructed and occupied on 1 st jan 2013.
earlier the college has only the arts faculty but from 2011 onwards it has b.a. and also b.sc., b.com. and
msw. by janbhagidari samiti. these courses increased the students strength, presently it is running 3 ug and
1 pg programs.
in the current year the college has a total student&rsquos strength of 418 which was only up to 50 at the starting in
1983.
though the college has all the potential for further development but due to lack of permanent faculty members
and the courses run by janbhagidari samiti having large fees, the students strength is getting down but we are
trying our level best to rise the student strength through campaign like college chalo abhiyan and applying other
innovative teaching methods etc.
